• Clean and disinfect surfaces in accordance with District health and safety guidelines.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and properly dispose of waste.
• Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as assigned.
• Set up, move, or arrange furniture and equipment for school activities, events, or meetings as directed.
• Assist with minor building maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, reporting facility issues, and addressing basic repairs within assigned scope.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals according to training and manufacturer guidelines.
• Secure building areas as assigned, including locking doors and ensuring facilities are left in proper condition.
• Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and the public.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the head custodian, principal, or administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma, adult high school diploma, or G.E.D.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior custodial, janitorial, or facilities maintenance experience, preferably in a school or public building.
• Knowledge of proper use of custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning products.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently.
• Positive attitude and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe school environment.
Description
Job Description
The MHS Part-Time Custodian is responsible for performing custodial duties necessary to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school environment. This position is primarily assigned to custodial duties in the Millard High School Tech Building and will also assist the Head Custodian with athletic field preparation for outdoor sporting events and other duties as needed.
The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Head Custodian, school principal, and District administration.
Work Schedule
This is a 5.75-hour per day position. The successful applicant may choose one of the following regular work schedules, subject to final approval by the principal and District administration:
Option 1: 1:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., including a 30-minute lunch break.
Option 2: 4:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., including a 30-minute lunch break.
The selected schedule should be followed consistently unless adjusted by the principal or supervisor based on school or District needs.
