Ackerman Cancer Center, the pioneering leader in cancer treatment, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. With the distinction of being the only physician-owned proton center in the world, we are committed to providing innovative and patient-centric care.
Position Overview
Part-time Medical Physicist Assistants are responsible for assisting the Medical Physics team with quality assurance measurements for patient-specific treatment plans and treatment machine performance. All work will be completed under the supervision of a Medical Physicist.
Essential Job Functions
  • Prepares, performs and documents patient specific quality assurance measurements for x-ray linear accelerator and proton therapy radiation oncology treatment plans
  • Executes routine quality assurance tests on proton and x-ray treatment machines
  • Safely and effectively utilizes various equipment, including radiation detectors, measurement phantoms and software packages
  • Keeps accurate records of data and documentation acquired and presents to Medical Physics team as needed
  • Performs other duties as needed to support Medical Physics department
Requirements
  • Graduated or currently enrolled in a Bachelorโ€™s Degree program with a focus in physics, physical science, engineering, or other scientific fields from an accredited university
  • Must be motivated with a strong work ethic, be detail oriented, and have systematic thinking approach
  • Strong communication skills โ€“ both orally and in writing
  • Availability to work outside of normal business hours (evenings and nights)
