Job description

We are seeking energetic and well-organized applicants to help answer the phone, take and relay detailed messages, fax and assist the Radiology residents in protocoling CT exams for the emergency room patients and other duties as assigned. This position is a wonderful opportunity for a medical student to explore the world of Radiology in an emergent setting while earning money.
Qualified applicants must be current University of Maryland School of Medicine medical students and fluent in English in order to assist the Radiology resident in the Radiology ED. The medical student must be in good standing at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Receives and directs incoming calls and visitors utilizing approved greetings as established by standard operating procedures. Responds to general inquiries regarding office operations.
  • Assists in maintaining records and filing systems. Codes, combines, copies, sorts and files documents according to defined procedures. Processes a high volume of similar routine transactions with clearly defined procedures.
  • Assembles and compiles basic data according to specific instructions. Utilizes manual and automated methods to enter and retrieve data.
  • Prepares and assists in preparing bulk mailings. Updates mailing lists.
  • Delivers, posts, and retrieves documents and materials on campus.
  • Operates office equipment such as single and multi-line telephones, personal computers, facsimile machines, and photocopiers
  • Maintains efficient operation of copiers, scanners, etc. and schedules appropriate service.
  • Types and performs basic data entry office using Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Accurate typing and data entry skills.
• Knowledge of general customer service practices.
• Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with team members and public.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
