Job Description Summary
This is an adjunct teaching position. Applicants must have knowledge of the role of the Medical Assistant, current Electronic Health Record practices and procedures, basic billing and coding practices and procedures that are commonly used in physician clinics, outpatient departments of hospitals and medical groups, and other healthcare facilities. The position may include day and/or night instructionRank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service
excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University's Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
-Foster an educational environment that is supportive of the Lasallian Mission.
-Maintain an approved syllabus and daily lesson plan outlining course content and learning objectives
-Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate the learning styles of a diverse student body
-Administer and grade quizzes, tests, and exams
-Actively work to maintain a high level of student enrollment by maintain accurate daily attendance and communicating attendance and other student concerns with the Director of the Medical Assistant program
-Assess student learning, skills, and competencies in electronic health records and in identifying and applying codes used in medical diagnoses and diagnostic procedures
-Assess student progress in achieving the learning outcomes, program outcomes, and institutional outcomes appropriate to patient electronic health records, and medical billing and coding
-Implement the learning objectives and program objectives as outlined in the course syllabus provided to them
Minimum Qualifications
• Have at least an AAS degree in any Health Administration Course or Computer Science from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Have at least two years of teaching experience
• Have at least four years of proven experience in the medical field, preferably in HIT
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred. Teaching experience in Medical Billing and Coding and Electronic Health Records. Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
