Job description

Position Summary:
The Urgent Care is currently seeking a qualified and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our clinical team. This position requires flexibility and a willingness to travel between our clinic locations across the Greater New Orleans area.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated provider with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, walk-in clinic environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, physical exams, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays, EKGs, and laboratory studies
  • Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and develop treatment plans consistent with current medical guidelines
  • Accurately document all patient encounters and maintain timely electronic medical records
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinic teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Rotate between multiple clinic locations as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Louisiana licensure as a PA or NP
  • Certification by NCCPA (for PAs), or certification by ANCC or AANP (for NPs – FNP required)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care (three years preferred)
  • Current BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Current DOT Certification (FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification) is a plus
  • Active DEA registration and state prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain)
  • Proficiency in minor procedures and interpreting diagnostic test results
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and patient engagement skills
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Ability and willingness to commute to all The Urgent Care clinic locations as needed


Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and standard billing/coding practices
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and digital documentation workflows
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
