Their duties include taking patient vital signs, updating medical records, preparing examination rooms, and performing basic clinical or administrative tasks. Working part time allows for flexible scheduling, making it an ideal option for students, parents, or those seeking a better work-life balance. Despite working fewer hours, part time medical assistants play a crucial role in ensuring smooth healthcare operations.

What does a part time medical assistant do?

Part-time medical assistants perform the same job duties as a full-time medical assistant; the primary difference is that part-time employees work thirty hours or less a week. Part-time medical assistants may handle administrative or clinical duties. In the exam rooms, part-time medical assistants may take vital signs, describe procedures, change wound dressings, administer medication or vaccinations, submit prescriptions, document results from patient sample testing, and prepare the beds for the next patient.
