Job description

The District is looking to employ one (1) intern with a degree or majoring in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to work with the Facilities Maintenance Division on maintenance related projects and activities. Interns are temporary employees who provide support for District staff at varying levels and who receive on-the-job training. Interns are assigned to work on a broad range of projects and assignments in different District units.

Interns work side-by-side with District staff to obtain working knowledge and training in the area of assignment related to their field of study. Placement in this classification is temporary, and permanent employment is not guaranteed. The District may not employ an Intern for more than six (6) months full time (21-30 hours per week), or if working on a part-time schedule (20 hours or less per week), more than 1,000 hours or 125 days in a fiscal year.

Subject to these fiscal year time limits, intern work assignments are limited to a maximum of 12 months. Examples of Duties Under supervision of the Facilities Engineering Supervisor, the facilities engineering intern will develop skills, gain experience, and perform the following typical duties: Conduct/record data in field testing of Booster Pumps with District staff. Assist District's staff in developing a patching schedule for Ethernet cables and Fiber Optic cables that are connected to network equipment.

Maintain version control and validate network architecture diagrams and drawings. Support onsite activities and field commissioning. Create major equipment list for Electrical, Mechanical, and network infrastructure related equipment to assist in lifecycle planning.

Support PG&E invoice tracking and assist PG&E coordination. Assist District engineers in conducting studies and investigations of engineering problems of moderate difficulty and complexity. Assess existing District facilities by visual inspections and document the findings.

Organize project files and search for requested documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications The applicant is required to: Have at least a Junior year standing at an accredited college or university.

Possess a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Be proficient in verbal and written communication in the English language. Possess the physical characteristics to perform the typical example of duties.

Be willing to work both in the District office, and outdoors in construction environments under a variety of climatic conditions with the appropriate personal protective equipment. Additionally, it is desired for the applicant to: Have experience using Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Be familiar with CAD drafting and engineering tools.

Be familiar with project management and construction management. Be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and quick learner. Selection Procedure Application materials MUST include a resume.
