Position Overview

The Part-time Dock Hand acts as a key partner to the General Manager, driving operational success throughout the marina. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong business insight, excellent customer service skills, and genuine passion for the marine industry.

Youโ€™ll oversee seasonal staff, maintain top-quality facilities, and ensure a seamless customer journeyโ€”all while fostering a positive, high-performing culture.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

  • Support daily operations including dock management, boat rentals, fuel services, and retail activities.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise team members.
  • Build a strong culture of teamwork, service excellence, and development.

Customer Experience:

  • Deliver exceptional service and resolve customer issues.
  • Build lasting relationships with guests, vendors, and the local community.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Oversee docks, equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and regulatory compliance.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Maintain adherence to federal, state, and local regulations including USCG and environmental standards.

Community Engagement:

  • Represent the marina in community events, industry groups, and tourism initiatives.

Safety & Security:

  • Enforce safety protocols and protect marina assets.

Key Technical Tasks

  • Safely move boats using tractors and operate various boat types.
  • Maintain fuel dock safety procedures and complete inventory logs.
  • Assist with vessel docking and provide high-level customer assistance.
  • Maintain docks, equipment, and common areas.
  • Operate small equipment and perform boat cleaning/inspection.
  • Participate in facility opening/closing and upkeep.
  • Support events, boat shows, and promotional activities.
  • Follow all hurricane, fire, first-aid, and spill response plans.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in marina operations, hospitality, or related field.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role (marine/boating experience highly preferred).
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, hospitality, or marine operations preferred.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, Teams, and marina management software.
  • Must be able to swim, lift 50 lbs., and work safely around water.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
