Job Title: Industrial Mechanical Technician – Class A
Department: Engineering

Job Summary:
The Industrial Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing mechanical and electrical maintenance support at SFS client facilities. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment repair, and supporting system installations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Technicians are assigned to client sites based on their weekly availability and may work across multiple facilities depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on various types of production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure reliable operation.
  • Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to manage work orders and maintenance logs.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace machine components such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, switches, and gauges.
  • Interpret electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics to troubleshoot systems.
  • Adjust and calibrate control instruments and functional components.
  • Start, test, and monitor machines to ensure proper performance after maintenance or repair.
  • Support production uptime by responding to emergency breakdowns and participating in on-call coverage.
  • Document maintenance activity and communicate effectively across shifts to ensure continuity.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, complying with OSHA standards, GMP practices, and internal food safety protocols.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance systems and processes.
  • Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and PPE guidelines at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical training (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills up to 480V.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with bakery or food processing equipment is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • NY Boiler License is a plus, but not required.
