Position Summary
Semi-skilled and manual work in maintenance of various grounds, fields and facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Parks Foreman or Parks Manager
Essential Functions
  1. Maintains various grounds, fields, and parks by performing mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging and other manual labor tasks.
  2. Prepares fields for athletic activities such as: lining, raking.
  3. Installs turf and seeds on field, parks and other grounds.
  4. Maintains equipment and facilities by performing manual labor and semi-skilled work.
  5. Performs litter control functions; cleans restrooms; sets up picnic and other areas.
  6. Operates vehicles. Performs preventative maintenance functions on the vehicles.
  7. Informs and directs public in the use of facilities.
  8. Assists with Event setup/ teardown and day of event needs

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance functions.
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance and turf installation.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment to do related work.
  • Knowledge of grounds keeping practices and principles.
  • Ability to operate light equipment.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Skill in the operation and preventative maintenance of equipment and related tools.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Florida Driver's License
Supplemental Information
WORKING HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT:
  1. Works inside and outside in various weather conditions. Most work is performed outside in the heat.
  2. Works around or in noise, dirt, dust, water, slippery surfaces, heights, confined areas, chemicals, electrical energy, moving parts, machinery, objects or vehicles.

Insurance
Depending on the plan selected, the City pays approximately 98% of employee's health insurance and contributes to a Health Savings Account.
Dependent coverage, dental, vision, and short term disability plans are available at an additional cost. Basic life and long term disability insurance is paid by the City.
Additional voluntary insurances are available such as: critical illness, accident, and hospital indemnity insurances etc. are available for an additional cost.

The City contributes 5% automatically. An additional of up to 2.5% will be contributed if the employee elects to contribute to their individual 457. However, employee contribution is not required. Employee is full vested after five (5) years with partial vesting in years prior.
