Part-Time Maintenance Technician
Position Details

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Part-Time Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our manufacturing facility, buildings, and production equipment. This position is responsible for performing general facility maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to help ensure a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with production and management as needed.

Primary ResponsibilitiesFacility amp; Property Maintenance
  • Conduct routine inspections of manufacturing buildings and facilities to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Perform general repairs, including:
    • Light bulb replacement
    • Painting
    • Basic plumbing
    • Light electrical work
    • Basic carpentry
  • Perform preventative maintenance on rooftop and split HVAC units.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards, including conditions that may contribute to slips, trips, and falls.
  • Assist with general building upkeep and maintenance projects.
Production Equipment amp; Machinery
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment, including rewinders, printing presses, converting equipment, and slitting machines.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance with Production Managers and Supervisors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on air compressors.
  • Assist with installation of new work cells, equipment modifications, and upgrades.
  • Diagnose mechanical breakdowns and determine root causes.
  • Repair and maintain components such as:
    • Motors
    • Gearboxes
    • Bearings
    • Conveyors
    • Pumps
    • Related mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot equipment using sequential cycling, HMI systems, ladder programs, and safety interlocks, including light curtains, proximity switches, and photo eyes.
  • Work with production personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maintain safe, efficient operation.
Safety amp; Compliance
  • Work with the Safety Manager to ensure weekly, monthly, and annual inspections are completed on schedule.
  • Communicate safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Proactively identify and correct potential workplace hazards.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures as required.
  • Complete required safety training, including fall protection, forklift, and scissor lift training.
Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain maintenance schedules and related documentation.
  • Maintain pest control schedules and fire extinguisher inspection records.
  • Keep accurate inventory records of maintenance supplies, parts, and equipment.
Vendor amp; Contractor Coordination
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services.
  • Assist with scheduling and overseeing outside work.
  • Monitor vendor work to ensure quality and completion of requested services.
Other Duties
  • Assist with pickup and delivery of customer orders as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications amp; Competencies
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of relevant maintenance or industrial experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of sequential cycling, HMI systems, ladder programs, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley controllers, encoders, electric particle brakes, and servo motors.
  • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects as required
Working Conditions
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Position may occasionally require evening or weekend availability for emergencies, equipment issues, or special projects.
  • Work may require climbing ladders and accessing rooftops.
  • Fall protection training will be required.
  • Forklift and scissor lift training will be required.
  • Must be able to safely work around manufacturing equipment and follow all applicable safety procedures.
