Job description

Job Title:     Building Maintenance Tech


Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age due to SC DSS regulations. The Building Maintenance Tech is preferred to have at least five years of maintenance and custodial work experience.


Principle Responsibilities: The Building Maintenance Tech conducts building and vehicle inspections on a routine basis as well as making repairs as needed in the three main buildings and two off-site location.


Reports to: Facilities and Safety Supervisor

Scope:  This part-time (25 to 29 hours per week), hourly, non-exempt position has responsibilities which include but are not limited to: conducting scheduled facility checks, maintaining HCFC vehicles, and making repairs to facilities and equipment, general cleaning of common spaces and restrooms, in the Administrative Building.  Preferred hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 1:30 PM, but may be somewhat flexible.  Depending on work load and performance of the selected candidate, this position may grow to full-time.  


Responsibilities:

  • Conducts routine vehicle and facility safety inspections as scheduled and maintains records
  • Identifies safety and building risks and concerns working with Facilities & Safety Supervisor to implement solutions
  • Responds to work orders in coordination with Facilities & Safety Supervisor
  • Addresses facility needs such as minor electrical repairs, plumbing and carpentry
  • Addresses minor vehicle issues such as replacing normal wear items
  • Assists Facilities & Safety Supervisor with setup/teardown of equipment needs for meetings and presentations, both scheduled and unscheduled
  • Maintains facilities storage spaces keeping them accessible
  • Assists with maintaining the Admin Building donations closet and Faucette House clothes closet
  • Assists Facilities & Safety Supervisor with purchasing of approved items and supply pickups
  • Assists with onsite coordination with vendors and service providers at all HCFC locations
  • Assists with delivery of supplies to programs as needed
  • Assists with furniture placement and removal
  • Assists with maintenance of grounds as needed including routinely treating ant mounds in season and other grounds pests

 Janitorial (Administrative Building and Community Therapy Office)

  • Empties trash receptacles in all main areas and office receptacles left in hallways as needed.
  • Takes all trash from the building to the outside dumpster weekly and as needed.
  • Sweeps and mops main hallway floors once per week. Sweeps and mops kitchen floors and restroom floors two times per week. Spot sweeps and mops as needed additionally.
  • Vacuums all carpeted floors able to be accessed in building once per week and as needed additionally.
  • Dusts furniture in meeting rooms as needed.
  • Cleans and Sterilizes tabletops in meeting rooms twice per week. Sterilizes chair handles, armrests and backs as appropriate twice per week.
  • Sterilizes countertops, sinks and refrigerator handles in kitchen twice per week.
  • Sterilizes surfaces in restrooms, sterilizes all restroom fixtures two times per week.  
  • Cleans bathroom doors, stall doors weekly especially wiping down locks, handles and fingerprints. Also walls as needed if there are marks weekly. 
  • Sterilizes the lactation room (old restroom) weekly.
  • Cleans front doors and side hallway door inside and out with glass cleaner weekly.
  • Sterilizes all readily accessible door handles daily.
  • Other duties as it relates to facilities as needed.
