Job description

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented, part-time, FP&A Intern to join our FP&A team at Flexential, a leading provider of data center solutions. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in financial planning and analysis within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You'll support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and strategic analysis to help drive insights across our growing portfolio of data center assets.
This 10 Week program, beginning on June 3rd, and ending on August 6th will provide in depth exposure, experience and training opportunities in the areas of Financial Modeling (LRP, Business Cases, Capital Financing), Management Reporting, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence Platforms, and Data Center Industry specific exposure to DC Construction, DC Operations and associated Real Estate elements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports, including revenue, power usage, and EBITDA performance.
  • Support updates to financial models related to data center operations, capacity planning, and cost per kW.
  • Help consolidate and visualize performance metrics such as PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness), utilization rates, and margin analysis.

Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assist in maintaining forecast models for power consumption, lease expenses, and customer billing.
  • Support the annual budgeting process by gathering inputs, updating templates, and tracking submissions.
  • Analyze actuals vs. forecast to identify key variances and trends.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Help prepare presentations and distribute financial reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Real Estate, and Sales, to support financial data collection and insights.
  • Take meeting notes and assist in tracking FP&A action items and deliverables.

Process Improvement & Automation
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to streamline financial reporting and analysis workflows.
  • Support automation efforts using Excel, Google Sheets, and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Document standard operating procedures for FP&A processes.

Ad Hoc Analysis & Research
  • Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, pricing benchmarks, and customer performance.
  • Support scenario planning for expansion projects, energy pricing fluctuations, and lease negotiations.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
  • Solid analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:
  • Experience or coursework related to financial modeling, corporate finance, or data analytics.
  • Interest in the data center, real estate, or infrastructure industry.
  • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, QlikSense, or Tableau) or programming in SQL/Python is a plus.
