Job description

Come work for the City of Elk River at our Community Event Center! We are in search of Seasonal Event Production Workers to assist in the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and seamless event experiences for fans during hockey games and other events as needed.

Core work hours will be evenings and weekends with the ability to flex schedule based on the facility’s needs. The dates of events will be from the beginning of August through mid-September of 2026. The facility is open generally from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. 

2026 Salary range is $16-18/hr. Part-time benefits may include Earned Sick and Safe Time.

The Event Production Worker assists in the delivery of high-quality, engaging, and seamless event experience for fans during hockey games, ice shows, and other events as needed.

 Essential Functions

  1. Provides technical and entertainment work during events. Assignments will vary based on event needs.
    1. Coordinates the timing and execution of event promotions and entertainment elements.
    2. Operates the scoreboard, video board, and camera to live stream to the video board, other areas of the building, and online streaming services.
    3. Plays music and audio cues to enhance crowd engagement.
    4. Serves as the in-game announcer, providing live updates, player introductions, and promotional script reading.
    5. Ensures all game presentation equipment functions properly before, during, and after events.
    6. Assists with setup and teardown of technical and entertainment equipment.
    7. Moves goal nets during resurfacing as needed.
    8. Assists with facility cleaning as needed.

       2.  Performs customer service-related duties.

    1. Works with coaches, referees, and other event staff to ensure positive event planning and communication.
    2. Assists facility users with directions and questions.
    3. Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, and public.

        3.  Performs other essential job duties.

                A.  Regular and timely work attendance.

                B.  Participates in safety training and follows all safety procedures.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Ability to operate facility equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, facility users, and the public.
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, live-event environment

 Minimum Qualifications

  • 16 years of age or older.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with the public.
  • Experience with AV equipment, streaming software, or scorekeeping systems.
  • Basic understanding of hockey rules and game flow.
  • Experience speaking on a microphone in front of a crowd.
