DEPARTMENT: Athletics / STATUS: Part-time / CLASSIFICATION : Non-exempt / DATE LAST UPDATED: February 2025
PURPOSE
Reporting to Director of Soccer, the Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for assisting recruiting and development, planning, implementation, and serving the Soccer programs at LPU. Specifically, the assistant will help to develop and conduct in-season training and instruction, recruit student-athletes, assist with the academic success of the student-athletes, help manage the program's community relationships and supervise the players. This coach will help operate and maintain a Christ-Like program.
Primary duties are instructional; however, assistant coaches are expected to perform recruitment and meet roster goals, in addition to some administrative duties, such as: ensuring compliance with NAIA/GSAC and LPU regulations, and overall departmental policies; helping with game operations and staffing assignment; communicating with student-athletes; promoting academic achievement within the MSOC program; monitoring study hall and community service work for student athletes. All other assigned work by the Director of Athletics or The Head Soccer Coach.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Instructing and developing student-athletes in proper skills and strategy.
  • Helping to coordinate weekly training and other instructional times.
  • Assisting with the academic success of student-athletes.
  • Modeling caring relationships with students through personal interaction and as an effective role, model of a Christian life.
  • Recruiting student athletes for the Men's Soccer program.
  • Representing the University at internal and external recruiting events.
  • Ensuring compliance with all athletic department requirements.

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • A vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the Universities Statement of faith which all employees are required to sign.
  • The equivalent of an Associate's degree is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred
  • A strong coaching background and demonstrated success instructing, recruiting, and retaining student-athletes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook and donor development software).
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
