Pay Rate: $20.00/hour I Hours: Flexible availability, including some evenings & weekends as needed; hours vary from 5-24 hours per week, depending on need I Location: Martin Library I Travel: Local travel around York County I Supervisor: Director of Educational Services I Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt I Individuals Supervised: None
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Children's Outreach Services Coordinator plans and implements story time and birthday party services. This includes:
  • Coordinating, planning, and executing birthday parties at York County Libraries locations for children up to 6 years of age.
  • Planning, scheduling, and facilitating story time programs across York County at early childhood education facilities (formerly childcare/daycare centers) contracted with YCL.
  • Conducting outreach to develop story time contracts with new early childhood education sites and/or to facilitate growth of YCL's birthday party service.

Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in managing relationships with school/non-profit administration preferred.
  • Experience in event planning, particularly children's events preferred.
  • Solid classroom management skills required, classroom experience in Pre-K preferred.
  • Candidate must have current PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint-Based Clearance, and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, library, early childhood education staff and library/non-profit administration.
  • Creativity and ability to think on one's feet to solve problems and adapt to changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to program sites in York County.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and manage scheduling to ensure sufficient time is allowed for facilitation of services and travel between sites.
  • Plan & present each event and maintain data.
  • Coordinate with each client to affirm program details, ensuring quality service is provided.
  • Identify, promote and develop new client contracts in collaboration with the Director of Educational Services.
  • Maintain program supplies inventory; coordinate with the facilities manager to order/replenish supplies.
  • Monitor monthly expense report in collaboration with Finance and Director of Educational Services.
  • Coordinate with clients, library staff and volunteers to set up and cleanup program venue.
  • Ensure all site and library rules, safety guidelines, and protocols are followed, including any issues or concerns before, during or after the program, so that all participants enjoy a positive and memorable experience.
  • Work with YCL Marketing to promote and grow YCL program outreach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout work shift.
  • Required to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands and requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
  • Must be able to reach, lift, and stretch throughout the day.
