Part-Time
Introduction:
Step into the vibrant world of retail at George Washington's Mount Vernon, where every workday is an adventure, and you are the key player in delivering an exceptional shopping experience! Working in retail here isn't just about selling products; it's about creating moments of joy and discovery for our visitors. The Shops at Mount Vernon are seeking candidates for our Sales Associate position to welcome and assist Mount Vernonโ€™s one million annual visitors. Successful candidates will have enthusiasm for working with visitors from all over the world and excellent guest-focused service skills.
Compensation:
$15.00 /hour
Expected Hours:

Must be available weekends and have a flexible schedule. Associates are scheduled based on business needs, so open availability is a must. We do work with you to have two regular days off a week..

Most shifts end by 6:30 PM. Evening hours are rare and generally limited to special events.

This is a part-time position consisting of full 8-hour shifts only; partial shifts are not available. Most part-time associates work 3 days per week, although schedules may vary between 2 and 4 days depending on business needs. Applicants must be available to work the following shifts:

  • 9:00 AM โ€“ 5:30 PM
  • 9:30 AM โ€“ 6:00 PM
  • 10:00 AM โ€“ 6:30 PM
Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provide customers with best in class customer service, answering questions and handling sales as quickly and efficiently as possible
  • Recover merchandise constantly, keeping products orderly and in good condition. Report any damages, empty packages or other oddities immediately to supervisor on duty
  • Communicate any concerns or customer requests to supervisor on duty
  • Assist in annual retail inventory; assist Stock Supervisor with ticketing and folding duties as needed
  • Participate in the maintenance of all sales locations including cleaning, dusting, pricing and stocking of merchandise
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Previous sales/retail experience preferred
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to work well with others
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Flexible days and hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled
  • Dependability and punctuality a must
Special Requirements:
  • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • This position requires standing, sitting, walking and using stairs.
  • May be required to lift upwards of 20 lbs
  • Associate must tour the mansion and Museum and Education Center at least once a year to be familiar with the property and mission
