Job description

Server Assistant
Part-Time
If you have a passion for hospitality, connecting with people, and serving great food, then the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, which serves Mount Vernon Estate's visitors and the surrounding area, is currently looking for servers to join our team!
Servers Assistants are responsible for positive guest and client relations, coordination, and implementation of food service - including refilling beverages and water, running food to the tables, and assisting in resetting and bussing tables.
Compensation:
Server Assistants make $10.00/per hour plus tips.
Expected Hours:
2-3 days per week.
Day shift is 10:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Evening shift is 3:00 - 8:00
Requirements:
  • Staff will participate in aspects of coordination and implementation of food service, including refilling beverages and water, and running food to the tables
  • Assist servers in resetting and bussing tables
  • Responsible for positive guest/client relations
  • Observe tables and take note of dirty, clean, and occupied tables
  • Ensure that the front door area and patio are both maintained and cleaned, both inside and out, including making sure brass and windows are free of fingerprints and smudges
  • Inform management of guests who are unhappy with the service as quickly as possible
  • Maintain a composed, professional, and calm attitude at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and flexible
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • 1-2 years of food service or restaurant experience is a plus
Special Requirements:
  • May be required to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift upwards of 20 lbs
Work Environment:
This role takes place in a busy restaurant or café setting, involving regular interaction with guests and coworkers. The pace is fast and dynamic, particularly during meal service times. Noise levels can be moderate to high.
Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged standing and walking, carrying trays, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds. Clear verbal communication and customer service skills are essential. The role also involves handling food and beverages.
