What does a Part Time Legal Counsel do?

A Part Time Legal Counsel provides legal advice and support to a company or organization on a part-time basis. Their responsibilities may include reviewing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, advising on employment matters, and representing the organization in legal matters. They typically work fewer hours than a full-time counsel, making this role ideal for companies that need legal expertise but do not require a full-time legal department. Part Time Legal Counsels help organizations navigate legal risks while controlling costs.

How does the role of a Part Time Legal Counsel typically integrate with in-house legal and business teams?

As a Part Time Legal Counsel, you’ll often collaborate closely with in-house legal teams, business units, and external stakeholders. While your hours may be limited, you’ll be expected to provide timely legal advice, review contracts, and help manage risk on key projects. Communication is essential, as you’ll need to stay aligned with full-time staff and be responsive during peak periods. Many part-time legal counsel work on a flexible schedule, sometimes remotely, but regular check-ins and updates ensure you remain an integrated and trusted advisor within the organization.
