The ideal candidate will be dedicated to representing victims and families in Elder Abuse and Wrongful Death cases. This Attorney will provide legal counsel, advocacy, and legal representation for victims and their families in elder abuse and wrongful death cases. This position does not have a monthly billable hour requirement.

The ideal candidate will be seeking a full-time position, but part-time candidates will also be considered. Hybrid work locations will also be considered for appropriate candidates.

Why Choose Our Team?

Join our team at York Law Firm and be an advocate for elder abuse and wrongful death victims and their families to ensure justice and accountability for our elders and their families. Our mission is to uncover elder neglect and fraud and to hold bad long-term care operators and companies accountable for the exploitation of our seniors. Your commitment to providing empathetic, high-quality case work-up will help ensure justice, accountability, and swift, efficient closure for elderly victims within the legal system.

Case Management: Manage a caseload of elder abuse cases, from pre-litigation through trial, carrying out comprehensive investigations, developing an organized plan for discovery and litigation, collecting evidence, enforcing discovery through law and motion, responding to discovery, and working closely with health care providers, consultants, and experts, all while establishing a robust settlement strategy alongside preparing cases for trial.

Advocacy: Advocate for the rights of victims and families in wrongful death, elder neglect, and abuse cases.

Client Communication: Maintain regular communication and rapport with clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their cases, explaining legal processes, understanding their harms and losses to develop their damages work-up, and addressing their concerns.

Collaboration: Collaborate with public agencies, medical professionals, and other relevant parties to build a strong case.

Legal Research: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and precedents related to elder abuse, and apply procedural and substantive legal knowledge to build effective cases.

Legal Team Support: Provide support to other attorneys within the firm in a team environment, with a demonstrated willingness to contribute and collaborate with team members with the goal of achieving the best results for our clients.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and four-year college degree.
  • Admission to the California state bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years of civil litigation experience in California state and federal courts. Previous experience in elder law, business litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice preferred.
  • Strong law and motion and discovery skills.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience in handling complex legal issues.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of elderly clients and their families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to ethical and professional standards.
  • Jury Trial and arbitration experience preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will take ownership of their work product, be service-oriented, and prioritize the needs of our clients above all. Strong collaboration skills are essential, as we value working together to achieve the best outcomes for those we serve.

We seek someone who values a growth mindset. You should be committed to continuous learning, eager to embrace new skills, and proactively pursue opportunities for personal and professional growth. We are looking for a candidate who is ready to lean into challenges and support the team.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Bonuses based on individual and team contribution
