Job description

Part-Time Day Academy Teacher/Tutor
We are currently seeking a part-time tutor for our learning center, GradePower Learning - St. Petersburg. This position is perfect for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys teaching English (Reading/Writing) and Math, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.
Tutors at GradePower Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.
Position Requirements
Tutors work morning hours Monday-Thursday, 9:45am-12:45pm. You are not required to work all four days - specifics will be discussed during the interview process.
This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to our St. Petersburg location. This is not an online position, and relocation packages are not available. Background check screening is mandatory.
We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Retired teachers will be considered
  • Good knowledge of the current 1st-8th grade curriculum

Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring at an elementary to middle school (1st-8th grade or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to 5 students at a time

Responsibilities
As an Interactive Coach/tutor, you will:
  • Teach up to 3-5 students at different levels simultaneously, in-person
  • Follow GradePower Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
