IT Support Technician (Part-Time) - up to 29 hrs per week

Richmond, VA
Location: Downtown Richmond, VA 23219
Type: 3-month temporary assignment, with potential conversion to part-time Lottery employee
Schedule: Day shift, up to 29 hours/week, Monday–Friday (on-site)

General Summary

The IT Support Technician provides hands-on support for the client's technology inventory, desktop support functions, and IT asset lifecycle processes. This role ensures accurate tracking, deployment, maintenance, and security of IT hardware and software assets. Responsibilities include configuring Windows 11 devices, administering Apple mobile devices using JAMF, supporting user accounts, and contributing to continuous improvement of IT asset management procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Management

  • Maintain and track inventory to ensure adequate supply of devices and accessories.
  • Update and reconcile asset records in ITAM, including conducting regular physical audits.
  • Assist in maintaining contract and license records within ITAM.
  • Support asset-related audits and compliance checks.
  • Help optimize asset performance, upkeep, and lifecycle compliance.
  • Coordinate hardware allocation, setup, and retrieval—including offboarding equipment collection.

IT Asset Lifecycle Management

  • Contribute to development and improvement of lifecycle processes from procurement to disposal.
  • Document asset lifecycle stages and ensure process consistency.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Information Security, Finance, and IT teams to streamline workflows.
  • Support efforts to improve asset availability and reduce operational costs.

Desktop Support

  • Configure and assign desktops, laptops, and related hardware within 72 hours of approved requests.
  • Ensure devices are encrypted, properly enrolled in Intune, Entra ID, and on-prem Active Directory.
  • Support Windows 11 deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Document incident details and resolutions accurately in Ivanti (Help Desk system).
  • Assist with user account administration, including account setup, permissions, and password resets.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, processes, and common issues.
  • Coordinate repairs with external vendors for out-of-scope or warranty-covered hardware issues.

IT Service Management (ITSM)

  • Use ITSM software to track, document, and manage support requests efficiently.
  • Assist the IT Service Analyst in refining ITSM workflows to improve efficiency and user satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft network fundamentals and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Autopilot and Active Directory administration.
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation of serial numbers, licenses, and compliance data.
  • Technical understanding of IT hardware/software lifecycles.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
  • A positive, patient, user-focused approach.
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Asset management, compliance, vendor relations, and procurement
    • Microsoft on-prem Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Active Directory subcomponents (DNS, DHCP)
    • Windows 11 workstation environments
    • Apple iOS and macOS systems
