Funds & Asset Management Tax Associate Attorney

Location: New York

Direct Counsel is seeking a Funds & Asset Management Tax Associate to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm in New York. This position offers the opportunity to advise leading investment firms and financial institutions on complex tax matters related to fund formation, asset management, and investment structuring across various asset classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax structuring and advisory services for private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and private equity funds.

  • Advise on fund formation, structuring, and investor tax considerations, including U.S. and international tax implications.

  • Counsel clients on asset manager compensation structures, carried interest, and partnership tax matters.

  • Address tax compliance and reporting obligations related to fund operations.

  • Analyze and advise on Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and other investment structures (experience in this area is helpful but not required).

  • Collaborate with investment teams, fund managers, and financial institutions to develop tax-efficient strategies.

Qualifications
