Job description

Siouxland Community Health Center has an open position for Part-time Tigrinya Interpreter.

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 9am to 2pm


Successful candidate must have solid experience & advanced knowledge of:
  • Fluency in verbal, reading and written bilingual communication skills – Tigrinya
  • EMR experience a definite plus
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on the patients’ and SCHC’s behalf

Successful candidate must be able to perform primary functions of position:
  • Provide translation services and support the non-English speaking patients and their families throughout their clinical visit
  • Works directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
  • Assists patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including but not limited to, demographic and medical history, and financial verification
  • Assists social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
  • These functions are not all inclusive
