Help Train the Next Generation of Professional Drivers!
UCC is currently hiring multiple instructors for this position. This recruitment will remain open until filled.
Do you have a passion for the trucking industry and a desire to share your experience with others? Join UCC as a Part-Time Commercial Truck Driving Instructor and help students gain the skills and confidence needed to launch successful careers in commercial driving.
As a CDL Instructor, you'll provide hands-on training and classroom support to students working toward earning their Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a direct impact in workforce education while working alongside a supportive instructional team.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
  • Teach Commercial Truck Driving to students in the Truck Driving Program as assigned using approved curriculum and course outline.
  • Meets each assigned class with punctuality, enthusiasm and regular attendance.
  • Implements class activities that will promote maximum learning.
  • Provide classroom (if assigned) and behind-the-wheel driving instruction to help students earn their Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Conducts class during the time and in the room provided on the regular college schedule; any deviation from this should be approved by the Lead Instructor and/or Director of Community & Workforce Training.
  • Carries out college policies in all aspects that relate to this position. Provides grades and student employment information as appropriate.
  • Works as a team member with other instructors and UCC staff.
  • Participate in one night drive per class.
Incidental Functions:
  • Leaves the classroom in proper order at the conclusion of the class activities.
  • Conducts self as a representative of the college staff when participating in college related functions.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License.
  • Five years Commercial Truck Driving experience preferred.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Teaching hours could include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Log truck, heavy haul experience preferred.
