What is a part time insurance consultant?

Part time insurance consultants are professionals who provide advice and support to clients regarding insurance policies, coverage options, and claims, but work fewer hours than a full-time employee. They may help individuals or businesses understand their insurance needs, compare plans, and ensure compliance with regulations. These consultants often work on a flexible schedule, making the role suitable for those seeking work-life balance or supplemental income. Their responsibilities can include reviewing existing policies, recommending changes, and assisting with the application process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time insurance consultant?

To thrive as a Part Time Insurance Consultant, you need a solid understanding of insurance products, sales acumen, and usually a relevant state insurance license. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, quoting software, and basic office applications is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and the ability to explain complex policies clearly help consultants build trust and rapport with clients. These competencies ensure accurate advice, regulatory compliance, and effective client engagement, which are vital for success in this consultative sales role.

How does a part time insurance consultant typically collaborate with full time team members and clients?

Part-time insurance consultants often work closely with full-time agents and support staff, attending regular team meetings (virtually or in person) to stay updated on product changes and client needs. They typically coordinate their schedules to accommodate client appointments and may rely on digital communication tools to maintain seamless contact with both colleagues and clients. Flexibility and proactive communication are key to ensuring clients receive consistent service, even if the consultant is not always onsite. This collaborative approach helps maintain high client satisfaction and supports the overall success of the agency.

Job description

You don't need insurance experience to succeed in this role. What you need is reliability, coachability, and a genuine willingness to talk to people every day, because those are the traits that actually predict success here - not a resume full of prior sales jobs.
The Lead Model
We provide the leads - a mix of inbound (people who contacted us directly) and warm outbound (people who requested information but haven't been reached yet). You will never be asked to cold call. Every conversation starts with someone who has already expressed interest in learning about life insurance coverage.
Support Built for Beginners
Training covers the fundamentals of how life insurance products work, how to run a natural and honest client conversation, and how to actually close a sale once a family has decided on coverage. From there, you'll have mentorship access and a path toward more than 60 carrier partnerships, meaning you can genuinely match clients to what fits them rather than pushing a single product line regardless of relevance.
What You'll Earn
Compensation is 100% commission with no cap on earning potential. Average per sale sits at $800 to $1,200. Based on consistent work:
  • Part-time consultants: $50,000+ in year one
  • Full-time consultants: $80,000 to $300,000+ in year one

Pay is issued on a daily/weekly cadence, and additional performance-based incentives are available for consultants who hit certain production benchmarks.
What We Require
  • U.S. residency
  • A clean background check
  • A Life & Health insurance license, or the willingness to obtain one - we'll support you through this if you're starting without one

Interested?
If reliability and coachability describe you better than "extensive sales background" does, apply and let's talk - we're building our consultant team now and reviewing candidates on a rolling basis.
