The Aviation Academy of Lane Community College invites applications for our part-time Aviation Maintenance Instructor positions.
Lane Aviation Academy is seeking a qualified part-time instructor for its Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program, an FAA-certificated Part 147 Technician School. The successful applicant for this position will have opportunity to teach an approved curriculum leading to the students' attainment of their FAA Airframe and Power Plants Testing Approval. The successful applicant will, on occasion, be tasked with representing the AMT Program and or the Aviation Academy at various recruiting, public relations, or Advisory Committee events. The successful applicant will be expected to review current curriculum and teaching aids and offer constructive input in order to meet the program's goals of continuous improvement.
  • Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.
  • This is an application pool posting for 2026.The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Five (5) years of current aviation industry related experience.

Position Purpose:
Facilitate learning in Aviation Maintenance and support students in all areas of Airframe, Powerplant, and related systems maintenance and repair to enable them to qualify for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant airman's certificates.
Essential Functions:
  • Regularly evaluate and modify curricular materials to ensure that they are up to date, current with FAA requirements, and materials are coordinated with current textbooks and/or online materials.
  • Develop online components and versions of courses.
  • Incorporate current industry practices and standards and FAA requirements into all classroom and laboratory activities.
  • Evaluate and guide student performance, maintain records and document student achievements.
  • Maintain physical Aviation Academy campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college and community, as specified in the College Operations Policies and Procedures.

Support student learning through activities that include:
  • Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, time sheet completion, release time, textbook ordering and related functions.
  • Sustain currency in discipline and innovation in teaching.
  • Collegial participation in faculty performance evaluation process.
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with College expectations
  • Maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs of students, departments, college, and community, as specified in the College Operations Policies and Procedures
