Activity Coordinator (School Age Childcare - After school Program)

About Us

The Boys & Girls Club (BGC) of Geneva is dedicated to providing safe, educational, and engaging opportunities for local youth. Our members enjoy nutritious meals, homework assistance, enriching learning activities, and recreational time in a supportive environment. Activity Coordinators are the “Jacks and Jills of all trades,” offering essential program support by helping plan, operate, and implement out-of-school programs.
Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health and safety of all youth, following NY State Childcare Regulations, site Health & Safety Plans, and the BGC Employee Handbook
  • Plan, organize, and lead educational and recreational activities
  • Provide attentive and engaged supervision of assigned groups
  • Transport youth to and from programs in BGC vehicles, as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of all members
  • Keep program areas clean and organized after use
  • Monitor and inventory supplies, notifying supervisors when materials are needed
  • Record accurate daily attendance
  • Conduct safety checks, health checks, and periodic drills as required
  • Uphold professional appearance and demeanor consistent with BGC standards
  • Participate in weekly site meetings and one-on-one check-ins with supervisors
  • Report safety concerns or issues that may affect the well-being of youth
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18
  • Proof of High School Diploma/General Education Development(GED) Or Documentation of two years of experience working with children 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate BGC-owned vehicles; willingness to assist with transportation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to step in where needed, including substituting in different program areas
  • Demonstrated maturity, professionalism, and respect toward coworkers, youth, and families
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds (including age, socioeconomic status, race, sexual orientation, and ability)
  • Commitment to serving as a positive role model, fostering inclusion, teamwork, sportsmanship, growth mindset, and kindness
  • Completion of pre-employment requirements: medical/TB check, background check, and onboarding paperwork
Work Environment

This is a part-time, in-person position at one or both of our Geneva sites. Activity Coordinators report directly to the Site Supervisor and are expected to demonstrate maturity, professionalism, patience, and respect at all times.
  • Pay Rate: $18/hour
  • School Year Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–6:30 PM, plus mandatory trainings (announced in advance)
  • Summer Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 11:30 AM–6:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
