Pediatric Nursing Specialists of Indiana (PNS, a Home Care Network company) is a Medicare-certified home care and home health agency providing total patient & family support for infants, pediatrics, adults, and seniors.

We are seeking 2-3 highly skilled, compassionate, and professional Home Healthcare Aides (HH Aide, ATTC, HHA, HCA / HCAA, RHHA, CHHA, CNA, STNA) to join our home health agency and provide services to clients in central northern Indiana, including Lafayette, Kokomo, Marion, Muncie, Fort Wayne, and other communities.

We have flexibility to fit your schedule and career goals:

  • Long-term employment for part-time and full-time Home Health Aides.
    • 20-40 hours per week (M-F) available, with additional hours in evenings and weekends (if desired).
    • Those seeking full-time hours will have the option to start with part-time hours and first priority to add additional clients/shifts for up to 40 hours per week (if desired).
  • Home care experience and/or credentials (incl. CHHA, CNA, STNA) are desirable, but HHAs / Caregivers with 1+ years of paid experience - or those committed to building a caregiver career with our agency - are encouraged to apply.
  • Clients include infant/pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient care.
  • Flexible shift times: weekdays, weeknights, overnight, weekends, and hybrid shifts available - we build schedules that fit your lifestyle!
  • No Requirements for On-Call shifts, Weekends, extensive travel distances, or overtime (when not desired).
  • Weekly pay including onboarding and training.
  • Friendly travel expectations: Our standard travel radius for client coverage is 10-30 minutes from every employee's home. Mileage reimbursement between multiple clients is provided.
    • Enjoy the road? We also have cases at 30-60 minutes distance for those seeking extra hours, overtime, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be listed and in good standing on the Indiana State Aide Registry.
  • Meet Indiana's training and/or certification requirements, including successful completion of a formal certification training program and/or a written skills test and competency evaluation, and specifications of contracted agencies for which services are being provided.
  • Home care experience and/or credentials (incl. CHHA, CNA, STNA) are desirable, but HHAs / Caregivers with 1+ years of paid experience - or those committed to building a caregiver career with our agency - are encouraged to apply.
  • DD caregiving experience is a bonus.
  • Must be at lease eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Consent to and ability to pass a background check.
  • Current driver's license or valid state ID, and reliable transportation.
  • Beyond physical care, a willingness to regularly perform light housekeeping, Meal preparation/feeding, laundry, and other basic Activities of Daily Living is required and essential to success in this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and effective interpersonal communication style.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • A successful Home Health Aide with our agency, Pediatric Nursing Specialists of Indiana, provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist. The Home Health Aide is assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professional and performs services for clients as necessary to maintain their personal comfort and safety in the home.

Report to: RN Case Manager / RN Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Performs simple procedures as an extension of therapy services under the direction and supervision of the therapist.

  • Range of motion exercises
  • Assistance in ambulation or exercises

Performs personal care activities, including by not limited to:

  • Bathing
  • Shampooing
  • Skin care/nail care
  • Oral hygiene
  • Shaving
  • Dressing

Performs household services essential to health care at home, including but not limited to:

  • Meal preparation/feeding
  • Laundry
  • Light Housekeeping
  • Assists in the patient in taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes opening a container or pill caddy & handing it to the patient, but does not include administration of the medications.
  • Knows and follows infection control policies including proper hand washing techniques.
  • Reports any observed or reported changes in the client's condition and/or needs to the Registered Nurse.
  • Documents care provided and completes the forms required for the client's records. Completes the appropriate records to document cares given and pertinent observations.
  • Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients by observing infection control practices, following agency guidelines, and reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor/Case Manager.
  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment. Does not use equipment until orientation has been provided. Notifies supervisor of educational needs.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team through verbal reports, participation in staff meetings, and team conferences, as requested.
  • Treats patients and families with respect. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Accepts and fulfills assignments with the agency. Exercise good judgment in accepting assignments.
  • Participates in required in-service programs to meet compliance requirements. Identifies learning needs to agency supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary
