TheAccounting&Finance (A&F) Internrole provides experience in one of the following areas of the Accounting & Finance Department at Ameritas: broker-dealer accounting, investment accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, or expense management. The ideal candidate is on an Accounting and/or Finance track.

This internship will begin May 2027. This is a hybrid role working partially in-office and partially from home.

What you do:As an intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience within two of the following departments. Responsibilities will vary by placement and may include:

Financial ReportingThe Financial Reporting team prepares the company's financial statements and reporting in accordance with statutory (STAT) and GAAP standards. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries related to company activities.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting regulations.

Broker Dealer AccountingThe Broker Dealer Accounting team manages financial reporting and regulatory filings for Ameritas Investment Company (AIC) and Ameritas Advisory Services (AAS). Responsibilities of this role include:

• Process journal entries related to company activity and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare audit support schedules.

Investment AccountingThe Investment Accounting team supports the accounting and reporting of the organization's investment portfolio. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Prepare daily cash and trades in the accounting system, assist in recording and reconciling investment transactions, and assist in the research and resolution of outstanding cash/holdings differences.
• Process journal entries and work with full-time staff on ad hoc projects, tasks, and initiatives.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)The FP&A team analyzes financial performance, supports strategic planning, and provides insights for business decision-making. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Conduct regular benchmarking analyses to compare organizational performance against industry standards and competitors, identifying areas for improvement and strategic growth opportunities.
• Compile and prepare quarterly rollforward and reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness to provide stakeholders with clear insights into financial performance and progress.
• Assist in preparation of sales reporting for the individual division including reconciliation and adjustment recording process.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) - Expense & Project ManagementThe Expense Management function supports budgeting, expense analysis, project accounting, and business decision-making. Responsibilities of this role include:

• Perform project accounting reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and work with business partners to facilitate corrections.
• Create and distribute monthly project cost reports.

What you bring:

• Working towards a 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance at a Sophomore or Junior status.
• Able to commit to a full year of work - part-time during the academic school year and full-time during the summer.
• PT includes 10-20 hours a week
• FT includes 30-40 hoursa week
• Consistentlydemonstratesinitiative and a professional, self-directed approach to responsibilities.
• Acceptsadditionalprojects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Demonstrates effective time management when meeting deadlines, performs responsibilities with accuracy, and adapts to changing situations.
• Proven ability to work well and proactively communicate with all levels of management within the organization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Keen analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Extremely strong Microsoft Office technical skills.
