Job description

Worship Director

We are a multi-generational, multiethnic Bible-believing church in the Valley section of Syracuse. Syracuse Alliance Church exists to magnify Jesus Christ and empower God's people to share the Good News of the gospel. We believe worship is a command of scripture and value spirit-led music during our services. Most of all, we strive to exalt the Savior and to encourage the saints through all that we do.

The Worship Director is primarily responsible for cultivating and growing a culture of authentic, Spirit-led praise and worship. Worship ministry is a vital extension of our mission to intentionally connect people every day with the love of Jesus. The Worship Director must work closely with the Lead Pastor to ensure that there is consistency in our corporate worship times and in how we transition from worship to the message. The Worship Director will have oversight, input, and involvement in developing the worship ministry of our church across all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Lead Pastor and Tech Lead to be actively involved in vision-based planning and design of music ministry
  • Coordinate and lead weekly rehearsals and services using Planning Center Online
  • Lead a team of vocalists and instrumentalists from within the church to conduct the worship portion of each weekly service
  • Ensure all aspects of the service are loaded into ProPresenter
  • Provide a selection of music that aligns with the church’s vision and message
  • Lead a song either solo or with the praise team for the response portion of the service
  • Assist in recruiting, equipping, and training volunteers to serve on the worship team
  • When requested, provide worship or special music for Celebration of Life services and weddings
  • Fill in admin roles as needed to include, but not limited to, assisting with clerical duties, and assisting the Lead Pastor as needed

Requirements:

  • Agreement with our Statement of Faith and become a member of Syracuse Alliance Church
  • Completion of a background check
  • A personal, genuine, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Knowledge and understanding of the leading of the Holy Spirit
  • Heart for worship and leading God’s people into His presence through song
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of music
  • Ability to sing and lead with piano or guitar
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) the use of Planning Center and Propresenter software
  • Familiarity with soundboard operation
  • Ability to lead the worship portion of weekly services

Job Type: Part-time (with potential full-time opportunities)

Reports to: Lead Pastor

Expected hours: No less than 24 hours per week, minimum of 16 hours in the office
