Description
This position teaches applied music lessons, specifically guitar, to students in RCBC's Music Department. The Applied Music: Guitar courses (2 credits) consist of fourteen (14) one-hour weekly private lessons/ instruction to align with 4-year institution requirements. Lessons are offered in person on RCBC's Mount Laurel Campus at a time mutually agreed upon by the student and instructor. Students registered for applied lessons are also expected to attend all performance class recitals, perform in one of the scheduled recitals, and perform a final juried exam during finals week. This position may also teach ensembles. Based on prior experience, credentials, availability, and interest, the opportunity to teach other music courses is possible.
Adjunct Faculty will be paid $450 per student
Adjunct faculty work under the direction of the Department Chairs and administration of the Division of Humanities, Business, and Social Sciences to provide instruction, evaluate student performance, develop and manage syllabus and course materials, and comply with any Department, Division, or College requirements.
RCBC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Applied Guitar Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both classical and contemporary guitar styles, and a passion for teaching students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group guitar instruction to students, focusing on both classical and contemporary techniques.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and goals.
  • Prepare students for performances, recitals, and examinations.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the music curriculum and participate in departmental activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Stay current with developments in guitar pedagogy and performance practices.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public. Adjunct faculty work with our Department Chairs, Coordinators, and Administrative team to ensure successful course delivery for our students.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required: Master's degree in Music Performance, Jazz Studies, Contemporary Commercial music, Music Education, or a related field with applied study in guitar.
Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in guitar instruction.
Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements
  • Proficiency in both classical and contemporary guitar styles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Attend end of semester juries for students assigned to the instructor.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Active performance career and involvement in the music community.
  • Familiarity with music technology and online teaching platforms.

n order to enable Adjunct Faculty to be effective and to meet the requirements associated with relevant teaching conditions, RCBC has outlined 1) appropriate Technology Tools and, 2) a minimum level of proficiency with the Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System (LMS)

Adjunct Faculty should have access to a computer less than 6 years old and equipped with a webcam and microphone, as well as reliable high-speed internet service.

Adjunct Faculty are required to successfully complete a self-paced, online Blackboard Ultra LMS training
with a verified level of proficiency.
