Description
The research assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Soto-Shoender on a research project he is currently conducting.
Examples of Duties
  • The research project involves managing and preparing field data for analyses. The RA will work with data collected via camera traps and passive acoustic monitoring devices in the Central Volcanic Chain of Guatemala. The project's objective is to identify habitat associations and threats to native mammals and birds in the mountain ecosystems of Guatemala and study how they respond to invasive predators (free-roaming dogs). The RA duties on this project will be the following:
    • Arrange the camera trapping dataset in excel according to specified criteria
    • Conduct basic data exploration and analyses on the data
    • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts to submit to peer-reviewed journals
  • The research assistant will be trained in basic principles of data management and analysis, but they will be asked to independently learn about the specific techniques we will use.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Familiar with research in Natural Sciences and a NCF current student
