Description

The Grounds & Property Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, organization, and safety of the company's three local facilities. This position performs groundskeeping, exterior building maintenance, and general property upkeep to ensure the facilities present a clean, professional appearance for employees and visitors. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain lawns, landscaped areas, and shrubbery by mowing, trimming, edging, weeding and mulching.
  • Remove trash, leaves, branches, and debris from parking lots, sidewalks, loading docks, entrances, and other outdoor common areas.
  • Maintain the appearance of building exteriors by pressure washing sidewalks, entrances, loading docks, and exterior walls as needed.
  • Clean exterior windows, doors, awnings, and other visible exterior areas.
  • Organize and maintain outdoor storage areas, including pallets, scrap materials, dumpsters, and equipment.
  • Remove unused equipment, materials, pallets, boxes, and other unnecessary items from warehouses, storage areas, and around the property.
  • Assist with organizing storage rooms, maintenance areas, and other facility spaces.
  • Perform minor building upkeep such as changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, painting touch-ups, installing signs, and other non-technical maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect company grounds and facilities regularly and report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to management.
  • Safely operate commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and other hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of landscaping materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the appearance, organization, and safety of company property.
  • Follow all quality, safety, housekeeping, and work rules and regulations.
  • Keep work areas neat and organized.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial lawn equipment, pressure washers, hand tools, and power tools.
  • General knowledge of landscaping and property maintenance practices.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods. The employee frequently uses hands and fingers to operate lawn equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting are required. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to safely operate equipment.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily outdoors and requires regular exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and seasonal temperature changes. Indoor duties are performed in warehouse and manufacturing environments where employees may be exposed to elevated noise levels, dust, moving machinery, and changing temperatures. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, or other required equipment, must be worn in accordance with company safety policies. Employees are encouraged to stay hydrated while working outdoors and during periods of high temperatures.
