Part-time Green Residential I: BPI Multifamily Building Operator (MFBO); Green Residential II: GPRO Operations & Maintenance (O+M); Green Residential III: BPI Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA) Instructor

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Green Residential I, II, and III instructors for classes taught in Manhattan, NY. 

About us: 

SEIU 32BJ is a service union headquartered in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in the New York City area and nine other states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry. 

Who we’re looking for: 

  • Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverselinguistic and cultural settings 
  • Teachers looking to empower workers through industry skills education 

Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and implement lesson plans that are aligned to the program curriculum andincorporate the provided educational materials. 
  • Teach course content using a student-centered teaching approach 
  • Teach hands-on skills specific to building operations and maintenance
  • Maintain and submit records of attendance 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor 
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available 

Qualifications: 

  • Experienced in the multifamily building industry to provide classroom and field instruction to experienced NYC superintendents and provide follow up onsite coaching sessions
  • Two or more of the following credentials:
  • Multifamily Building Operator (MFBO)
  • Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA)
  • Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
  • FDNY Refrigeration System Operating Engineer
  • Five or more years teaching in a technical college
  • Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEEDAP)
  • Licensed Electrician,Plumberor Carpenter
  • North American Technical Excellence (NATE) Certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Seven years ofexperience working in, or servicing multifamily buildings
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds 
  • Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data. 

COVID-19 Considerations 

  • Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption 
  • Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization
