How much do part time graphics designer jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time graphics designer in Florida is $27.53, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $20.82 and $31.78 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do part-time graphic designers typically manage multiple projects and deadlines while working limited hours?

Part-time graphic designers often juggle several projects simultaneously, making time management and communication essential skills. Since their hours are limited, it's common to prioritize tasks, set clear expectations with clients or team members, and use project management tools to track progress. Regular check-ins with supervisors or clients help ensure alignment on goals and timelines. Additionally, part-time designers may focus on specific types of projects or collaborate closely with full-time team members to maintain workflow continuity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Graphics Designer, and why are they important?

To excel as a Part Time Graphics Designer, you need proficiency in design principles, creative thinking, and a solid portfolio, typically backed by formal training or relevant experience. Mastery of industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is crucial, and familiarity with digital asset management tools is a plus. Strong communication, time management, and adaptability help you efficiently handle multiple projects and client feedback. These skills ensure the delivery of high-quality, on-brand visuals within tight deadlines, making you a valuable and reliable contributor.

Can I do graphic design as a side hustle?

Part-time graphic designers can often take on freelance or project-based work outside their main employment, allowing for flexible scheduling and additional income. Success depends on managing time effectively, building a portfolio, and using design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Many designers balance side projects with their primary job to gain experience and expand their client base.

What are part time graphics designers?

Part time graphics designers are creative professionals who work fewer than full-time hours, typically on a flexible schedule, to create visual content for clients or employers. They use design software to produce graphics for websites, advertisements, social media, and other digital or print materials. Part time graphics designers may work in-house, at agencies, or as freelancers, and their responsibilities can vary based on the needs of the organization. This role is ideal for those seeking a work-life balance or supplementary income while pursuing other interests or commitments.

What is the difference between Part Time Graphics Designer vs Freelance Graphics Designer?

Part Time Graphics Designers are employed by companies for specific hours, often with a fixed schedule, and work within a team environment. Freelance Graphics Designers operate independently, managing their own clients and schedules. Both roles require similar skills and portfolios but differ mainly in employment structure and work setting.

What is the hourly rate of a graphic designer?

The hourly rate for a part-time graphic designer typically ranges from $20 to $50, depending on experience, skill level, and location. Freelance designers may charge higher rates, especially for specialized skills or advanced software proficiency like Adobe Creative Suite.

Is AI replacing graphic designers?

AI tools are increasingly used in graphic design to automate repetitive tasks and generate ideas, but they do not fully replace graphic designers. Human creativity, critical thinking, and understanding of client needs remain essential skills in the field. Part-time graphic designers often leverage AI to enhance productivity and focus on more complex, creative aspects of their work.

Can graphic designers work part-time?

Yes, graphic designers can work part-time, often taking on freelance projects or working for companies with flexible schedules. Part-time roles typically require proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite and may involve fewer hours than full-time positions, making them suitable for students, freelancers, or those seeking work-life balance.

Job description

Overview
DVM Elite is offering an educational, unpaid Practice Immersion Experience Program designed primarily to provide training and experience to current college students interested in marketing within the veterinary industry. This program is structured to complement your academic studies and provide exposure to real-world projects in a supervised, learning-focused environment.
This experience is intended for students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field. The program is remote and part-time, with hours scheduled around your coursework and academic commitments.
The DVM Elite Practice Immersion Experience Program provides exposure to multiple areas of digital marketing, including social media, email marketing, paid advertising, SEO, analytics, and strategic content development for veterinary practices in the U.S. and Canada. The primary benefit of this program is the opportunity for you to gain practical skills, portfolio-worthy experience, and professional mentoring in a real agency environment.
Learning Objectives and Training Focus
During this experience, you will:
  • Observe and assist with day-to-day marketing activities under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Learn how digital marketing strategies are developed, executed, and measured for veterinary clients.
  • Apply concepts from your coursework in a supervised setting, receiving feedback to help you build your skills and portfolio.
  • Complete at least one project in a chosen focus area (e.g., social media, email, analytics, content) that you can use for your resume or portfolio.

Sample Learning Activities and Tasks (May Include)
Under supervision, and as part of your learning plan, you may:
  • Assist with scheduling social media posts in Sprout Social.
  • Help build or update metric dashboards in Go High Level.
  • Support conversion tracking and basic report preparation.
  • Assist with list maintenance and database updates in our CRM (HubSpot).
  • Help with quality-control checks or light content-related tasks.
  • Participate in one marketing team meeting approximately every two weeks and in our weekly company-wide meeting on Thursdays, when your class schedule allows.

The exact mix of activities will be tailored to your academic program, skill level, and interests, with an emphasis on your educational experience rather than on performing work that would otherwise be done by a paid employee.
What You'll Gain
  • Practical, agency-based marketing experience working with real veterinary clients.
  • Exposure to B2C marketing strategies in a niche healthcare-related industry.
  • Structured training, feedback, and ongoing mentorship from marketing professionals.
  • Hands-on opportunities to apply classroom concepts in real tools and platforms.
  • A completed, portfolio-ready project that demonstrates your skills and growth.

We are committed to ensuring participants leave this program with practical, marketable skills they can confidently apply in future roles.
Participant Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Ability to commit approximately 8-10 hours per week for about 3 months.
  • Availability to work online during U.S. Eastern Time business hours for at least 5 hours per week; remaining hours can be scheduled flexibly around your classes.
  • Access to a reliable computer with a camera and a stable internet connection.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, follow directions, and be proactive about asking questions.
  • Tech-savvy and/or design-savvy skills are a plus, but not required.

Important Program Details
  • This is an unpaid educational experience intended to provide training and academic-aligned exposure to marketing work.
  • Participation in the DVM Elite Practice Immersion Experience Program does not guarantee ongoing employment with DVM Elite. Any future paid opportunities, if available, would be subject to a separate selection process.
  • The schedule is designed to be flexible and should not displace or replace the work of paid employees; participants work under close supervision and primarily for their own learning benefit.
