Open Door Mission is seeking a Philanthropy Partner (Grants amp; Foundations Specialist) to help secure the resources necessary to provide hope, healing, and life transformation for individuals and families experiencing homelessness and poverty.
In this role, you will identify funding opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, cultivate foundation and donor relationships, and communicate the life-changing impact of Open Door Mission's programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine professional fundraising expertise with meaningful ministry that helps break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Position Summary
The Philanthropy Partner advances the mission of Open Door Mission by securing philanthropic support through foundation grants, corporate giving, major donor relationships, capital campaigns, and strategic funding initiatives. This role serves as a storyteller, ambassador, and advocate for the Mission by translating program outcomes, success stories, and organizational priorities into compelling funding proposals and donor communications.

Key Responsibilities
Grant Writing amp; Foundation Relations
  • Research and pursue foundation, corporate, government, and faith-based funding opportunities.
  • Write and submit grant proposals, reports, and applications.
  • Manage grant deadlines, compliance requirements, and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain a strong grant pipeline and funding calendar.
  • Build and steward relationships with foundation partners.
Donor Development amp; Fundraising Support
  • Support cultivation and stewardship of major donors.
  • Assist with donor presentations, tours, and funding proposals.
  • Participate in fundraising campaigns, special initiatives, and capital projects.
  • Help create meaningful donor engagement opportunities.
Storytelling amp; Communications
  • Develop compelling proposals, impact reports, newsletters, and donor communications.
  • Gather and share stories, testimonials, statistics, and outcomes that demonstrate impact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and mission-focused messaging.Data amp; Performance Management
  • Maintain accurate donor and grant records in Virtuous.
  • Track grant activity, revenue, and fundraising results.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards to measure progress and impact.
  • Document donor interactions and stewardship activities.
Ministry amp; Team Participation
  • Support special events and fundraising projects as assigned.
  • Participate in department and organizational meetings.
  • Represent Open Door Mission with professionalism and Christ-centered service.
  • Share the Gospel and pray with others as opportunities arise

What We're Looking For

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
Preferred
  • Three or more years of grant writing and grant management experience.
  • Proven success securing foundation, corporate, or government grants.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations.
  • Knowledge of donor management systems, preferably Virtuous.
  • Strong writing experience with annual reports, case statements, and donor communications.
  • Understanding of homelessness, poverty, addiction recovery, or social service programs.
  • CFRE credential is a plus.
