Job description

Description:

Loch Harbour Group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Solutions Architect to join our team. As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for developing solutions that directly support the active growth plans of our organization. You will work closely with Business Development and Proposal Management personnel to understand customer needs and lead the development of compelling solutions to those needs.

This is a part-time, senior-level role built for a seasoned practitioner who wants high-impact solutioning work without a full-time commitment. Hours flex with the pursuit calendar: lighter during planning periods, heavier during active capture and proposal cycles. We expect our architects to work fluently with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to accelerate research, drafting, and solution development, applying professional judgment to everything those tools produce.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about developing innovative solutions and has a strong track record of success. If you are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Requirements:

• Lead and develop innovative solutions in support of major capture and proposal efforts; balance solutions against cost, schedule, function, quality, and other business considerations

• Lead the development of technical solutions that align with client needs and support proposal efforts for government and DoD contracts

• Write detailed and compelling proposals, including compliance matrices, technical approaches, and past performance

• Create white papers, proposals, and briefings demonstrating technical thought leadership in response to customer needs

• Support capture strategy development through technical leadership, including the creation and marketing of discriminating value propositions

• Assist in the development of integration capabilities across multiple accounts within DoD and Civilian markets

• Translate customer requirements and RFP Sections C/L/M and PWS/SOW language into a compliant, competitive solution approach

• Partner with Proposal Management to meet outline, compliance, and page-count constraints; respond to color team review findings as an author

• Support Basis of Estimate (BOE) development: validate labor categories, skill mix, level of effort, and solution assumptions behind the cost volume

• Maintain reusable solution content for the content library, including reference approaches, boilerplate, and past performance narratives

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field (Master's preferred)

• 8-10+ years of experience in solution architecture or technical solutioning within government contracting or the DoD. We will consider industry certifications in augmenting years of experience.

Experience / Requirements

• Previous experience as a Solutions Architect on small to medium size business captures and proposals, or similar experience

• Broad experience developing solutions involving Logistics, Resource Management, Engineering, Program Management, and Mission Support Training and Design

• Demonstrated experience developing solutions across Engineering and IT disciplines

• Working knowledge of business development and capture: understands how pursuits are qualified, shaped, and won, and can operate fluently alongside BD and Capture teams

• Demonstrated experience in proposal writing, with a strong track record of contributing to successful contract awards

• Experience developing technical solutions for government contracts, including familiarity with FAR/DFARS requirements

• Self-motivated and focused on delivering outcomes; ability to work independently with minimal direction

• Strong communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening); ability to articulate solutions and the rationale for decisions

• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to accelerate solution development, research, and writing, with sound judgment on accuracy, human review, and handling of sensitive or source-selection information.

Nice to Have

• Shipley proposal methodology experience or APMP certification

• Prior experience at a small or mid-size federal contractor

• Experience with SharePoint, RFPIO/Responsive, Loopio, GovWin, or similar tools

• Past performance supporting DoD, DHS, VA, HHS, GSA, or similar agencies

• Certifications such as CISSP, PMP, ITIL, or ISO Lead Auditor

• Experience supporting small businesses in achieving compliance with government and industry standards

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, cybersecurity tools, and enterprise architecture

• Hands-on experience with DoD contract programs and public sector IT systems

• Relevant industry or professional certifications (CPL or domain-specific credentials)

Engagement Details

• Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week with surge capacity during active capture and proposal cycles

• Onsite in our Fairfax, VA office

• W-2 or 1099 arrangements considered based on candidate preference and pursuit requirements

Compensation

• $160,000 - $180,000 annually on a full-time equivalent (FTE); prorated for the part-time schedule
