Job description

Position Summary:

The Ready Mix Concrete Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of ready mix concrete to customer job sites while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. This position requires the safe operation of a front discharge mixer truck, compliance with DOT regulations, and proper care of company equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures, including reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value - Safety, first in everything we do.
  • Report to work at the scheduled start time and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Safely operate a front discharge ready mix truck in accordance with all company policies, DOT regulations, and state and local traffic laws.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections, accurately completing all required Vehicle Condition Reports (VCRs) and reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Deliver ready mix concrete to customer job sites according to dispatch schedules and delivery tickets while maintaining product quality.
  • Understand the properties and handling characteristics of concrete to ensure proper delivery and placement.
  • Safely position the truck and discharge concrete at customer job sites while remaining alert to changing job site conditions and potential hazards.
  • Immediately notify Dispatch or management of any unsafe delivery conditions or obstacles that may impact safe operations.
  • Obtain all required delivery ticket signatures and accurately complete all required documentation.
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with customers, dispatch, and plant personnel.
  • Never dispose of returned or excess concrete without proper authorization.
  • Keep the mixer truck, hopper, chute system, and drum clean throughout the workday and complete all required washout procedures at the end of each shift.
  • Assist with routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance to help ensure equipment reliability.
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and operational procedures related to concrete delivery and washout operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of front discharge ready mix driving experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
  • Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company driving standards.
  • Ability to pass all required pre-employment and DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and safe commercial vehicle operation.
  • Familiarity with the local delivery area and ability to safely navigate various job site conditions.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely climb ladders and steps on the mixer truck.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit the vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet business demands.
