Job description

A family-owned firm and leader in funeral service serving metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, seeks a part-time funeral associate who is reliable, hard working and committed to exceeding expectations to join our team.

This is not a desk job. You will be on your feet, moving, setting up and attending to the many details that keep a funeral service running smoothly.  

Salary commensurate with experience. 

A part-time Funeral Associate handles the following duties:

  • Supporting and assisting funeral directors to ensure the highest quality, most professional, most ethical service
  • Assisting grieving families while showing continual care and concern
  • Safely and respectfully transporting deceased individuals to and from funeral homes as directed
  • Setting up and preparing space for and attending to funeral services
  • Receive and move floral arrangements
  • Keep facilities and service areas organized and prepared
  • Answering phones
  • Greeting and directing visitors
  • Step in wherever needed to support funeral directors and the team

Qualifications:

We’re looking for someone who shows up, works hard and takes responsibility for the job.

  • Dependable, punctual and willing to take initiative
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work and standing for extended periods
  • Able to routinely lift and move 60 pounds or more
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Safe and confident driver comfortable throughout Metro Detroit
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of professional experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Team-oriented with good judgment and a willingness to help
  • Comfortable working around deceased individuals
  • Professional appearance and communication skills
  • Respectful of confidentiality and the families we serve

This is a part time position, typically 10-15 hours weekly with a varying schedule consisting mostly of evenings and weekends. An applicant needs availability Monday thru Friday from 5:00pm-9:30pm and on weekends from 8:00am-9:00pm.
