Job description

Part-Time Position

Salary Range:  $57,125 - $91,971    Salary Grade:  19     FLSA:  Exempt  

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to investigate complaints, grievances, monitors compliance, and provides training regarding federal, state and local non-discrimination policies and laws.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Conducts investigations; receives and reviews complaints and grievances; conducts intake activities; schedules and conducts interviews and fact finding conferences with appropriate witnesses; gathers evidence and supporting documentation; prepares investigative reports; and makes recommendation of a cause or no cause finding.
Determines the applicability of mediation procedures; conducts and/or coordinates complaint mediation hearings, counseling, coaching, and/or negotiations; and takes and transcribes minutes of all mediation activities.
Ensures compliance with nondiscrimination policies; advises department staff on strategies to eliminate identified barriers and problems; communicates non-discrimination related policies and procedures at regular intervals; provides guidance and advice to employees regarding possible discrimination issues; and serves as liaison between County departments..
Maintains statistical documentation; compiles and/or monitors various administrative and statistical data; researches information; analyzes data and identifies trends; prepares or generates reports; and makes recommendations for changes in policies and procedures.
Assists in developing and/or updating complaint procedures, policies and forms for consistency with federal nondiscrimination laws and regulations as appropriate.
Maintains confidentiality of all work activities; stores and maintains confidential information and records of personal information collected during the course of an investigation; and utilizes discretion when conducting business with internal and external parties to protect individual rights according to established privacy laws and policies.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of applicable laws/regulations, new products, methods, trends and advances in the profession, professional affiliations, and attends workshops.
Maintains confidentiality in performing job responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required; three years of experience in affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, human resources or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License Certifications:  PHR, SPHR; SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PSHRA-CP or PSHRA-SCP certification is desireable.
