Job description

Ravenscroft is seeking a part-time Extended Day PreK Assistant Teacher to join our Extended Day Program. This position works Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM and plays an integral role in supporting the safety, well-being, and enrichment of our youngest learners after school.

We are looking to welcome an Extended Day PreK Assistant Teacher into our community of educators who actively strive to be diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Our candidates should demonstrate empathy, knowledge, and an understanding of the diverse backgrounds in our community; place importance on genuine and authentic connections with students, faculty, staff, and parents; be able to work collaboratively with team members of diverse backgrounds; and have the capacity to model an attitude of unyielding curiosity and a growth mindset.

Reports to: Extended Day Director and Co-Director 

What You'll Do: 

  • Assist the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate activities for students within the Program structure 
  • Stay alert to safety concerns regarding students during play, homework, and other activities 
  • Maintain a clean and nurturing environment for all students  
  • Communicate with the Lead Teacher and Director any observations about students that cause concern or require extra support 
  • Contribute to general planning for the Extended Day Program 
  • Assist in coordinating activities and field trips for students 
  • Monitor facilities for safety issues and report them to the Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children and a demonstrated desire to do so
  • Strong communication skills, including tact in dealing with parents, colleagues, and children in a school setting 
  • Dependable, with a strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively with other staff
  • Flexibility in work schedule to assist with Early Release Days, Teacher Workdays, and other additional hours as required by the school 

Preferred:

  • Background and/or degree in Education or a related field 
  • Previous experience in a PreK, Early Childhood, or K-12 school environment 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

This part-time role is based on Ravenscroft’s campus and includes work in classrooms, outdoor play areas, and shared community spaces. The position requires the ability to move throughout campus, actively supervise children, engage in physical activities with students, and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families. Occasional additional hours may be required on Early Release Days and Teacher Workdays. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
