TITLE: Bus Monitor / Aide

DEPARTMENT: Transportation

PAY GRADE 4: $15.30 to $15.78 hourly (based on education and experience)

REPORTS TO: Director & Assistant Director of Transportation

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Training first aid response to students experiencing seizures; experience working with physically and emotionally challenged children. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains order and ensures that students are safely seated during transport to and from the school.
  • Assists students with boarding and de-boarding the school bus.
  • Assists substitute driver with learning routes and student names.
  • Assists Bus Driver with emergency bus evacuation drills and in the case of an actual emergency, assists with the safe evacuation of students.
  • Performs necessary personal care, as required by a student’s IEP, during transportation of students to or from the school.
  • Attends all required meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or other designee.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.


Job Requirements
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
