Medical Records & Data Entry Specialist

Part-Time | Contract-to-Hire Opportunity

Lakeshore Talent is in search of two Medical Records Specialists to join a growing healthcare organization in Greenwood Village, CO. This is a part-time contract opportunity with the potential to extend and/or convert to a longer-term or permanent position based on business needs and performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in medical records, health information management, medical billing, claims processing, or a similar healthcare documentation environment who genuinely enjoys detail-oriented, structured work.

Position Details
  • Location: Greenwood Village, CO
  • Pay Rate: $22.00–$27.00 per hour
  • Schedule: Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week
  • Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday onsite; Wednesdays remote
  • Contract Length: Approximately 6 months, through the end of February 2027
About the Role

As a Document Organization & Data Capture Specialist, you will organize and review large volumes of medical records and billing documentation, accurately capturing key information for the Case Management team. This is a highly detail-oriented, behind-the-scenes role where accuracy is critical, as your work supports downstream case review involving expert witnesses and attorneys.

The ideal candidate enjoys creating structure from disorganized information, is comfortable with repetitive, detail-heavy work, and knows when to ask questions rather than make assumptions. You’ll typically work on approximately 10 case files per week, using Excel to organize, capture, and quality-check data. This is a desk-based, non-client-facing position with a defined workload and minimal competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and review large volumes of unstructured medical and billing records
  • Separate, categorize, and organize complex document packages into a logical, reviewable order while preserving all received documentation, including duplicates
  • Extract and accurately capture information from medical bills and supporting documentation
  • Reconcile billed charges with medical record documentation and billing summaries
  • Enter and organize data within Excel and other internal systems
  • Apply consistent file naming, indexing, and labeling conventions to ensure documents can be easily located and audited
  • Identify and flag missing, illegible, duplicate, or inconsistent records for Case Manager review
  • Identify discrepancies between billed charges and supporting documentation
  • Perform quality-control checks by comparing captured data against original source documents
  • Track assigned files and work toward established turnaround deadlines
  • Communicate file status, workload, and capacity to the Case Management team
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling protected health information
  • Follow HIPAA requirements and established confidentiality procedures
  • Adapt to changing processes, systems, and information as business needs evolve
Qualifications & Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize high-volume, disorganized, or incomplete documentation
  • Experience working with medical records, medical bills, or other healthcare documentation strongly preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong document organization and file management instincts
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills
  • Strong data-entry capabilities
  • Proficient touch typing and 10-key/numeric keypad entry
  • Comfortable entering large volumes of numerical information efficiently and accurately
  • Comfortable reviewing documentation containing medical terminology and healthcare-related language
  • Software savvy and able to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable performing repetitive, detail-intensive work while maintaining a consistently high level of accuracy
  • Strong judgment and self-awareness around when to ask questions or seek clarification
  • Naturally curious and willing to ask questions rather than make assumptions
  • Clear written communication skills for documenting file issues and communicating status
  • Collaborative, positive mindset with a genuine investment in team success
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and experience handling protected health information
Preferred Experience
  • Medical records or Health Information Management (HIM)
  • Medical billing
  • Claims processing
  • Revenue cycle management
  • Healthcare data entry
  • High-volume document indexing or document review
  • Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS codes
  • Familiarity with standard medical billing forms, including CMS-1500 and UB-04
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for approximately 50% of the workday
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office productivity equipment
  • Ability to maintain close visual acuity while reviewing medical records and other documentation on a computer screen for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding and numeric data-entry tasks
 Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a growing organization in a role that has a direct impact on the efficiency and quality of the overall case workflow. If you have experience with medical records or billing and enjoy detail-oriented work where accuracy truly matters, this could be an excellent fit.
