Bridgerland Technical College is seeking a Part-Time Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor to join our team in Brigham City, Utah. As a CDL Instructor, you'll help students develop the knowledge, driving skills, safety awareness, and professionalism needed to succeed in today's commercial transportation workforce. What You'll Do
As a Part-Time Commercial Driver's License Instructor, you'll provide engaging instruction and hands-on training that prepares students for success in the commercial driving industry.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Planning, developing, and delivering organized learning opportunities aligned with approved curriculum.
  • Providing classroom instruction in commercial driving regulations, vehicle systems, trip planning, inspections, and safety practices.
  • Delivering behind-the-wheel instruction on driving ranges and public roadways.
  • Teaching safe vehicle operation, defensive driving techniques, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Creating a safe, organized, and student-centered learning environment.
  • Assessing student learning through practical driving evaluations, assignments, and examinations.
  • Monitoring student attendance, progress, and achievement.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and supporting academic advising efforts.
  • Collaborating with faculty and staff to promote student success and program excellence.
  • Building relationships with industry partners to ensure curriculum remains current and aligned with workforce needs.
  • Maintaining training vehicles, equipment, and instructional resources in accordance with safety standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and program development efforts.

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial driver who is passionate about education, safety, and helping students succeed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of CDL driving or transportation education experience; or
  • Technical college certificate and one year of related industry experience; or
  • High school diploma or equivalent with four or more years of commercial driving industry experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an excellent driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of CDL regulations, vehicle operations, safety practices, and industry standards.
  • Ability to provide classroom, driving range, and behind-the-wheel instruction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
