Primary Duties

At the IDD Education Center, our student associates support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with their academic, independent living, employment, and health and wellness goals. Our Center is currently hiring for student associate positions in the TAP program for Fall Semester 2026.


General Job Description:

Transition and Access Pathways (TAP) Student Associates support college students with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they work toward increased independence, academic engagement, employment readiness, and social connection. TAP Student Associates provide direct support to students in individual and group settings across academic, social, independent living, and career-related environments.

Student Workers model appropriate communication and interpersonal skills, provide structured guidance, encourage self-advocacy, and support skill development using inclusive, strength-based practices. They collaborate closely with TAP professional staff, maintain professionalism and confidentiality, and adapt supports based on students’ individual goals and needs. Responsibilities may occur on campus, in residence halls, community settings, or at internship sites, depending on role assignment. Shifts vary Monday - Friday, 8:00-5:00pm, flexible shifts. Some evening hours may be available. 

Specific duties vary by position type and program need.

Minimum Requirements

Additional requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • “Enrollment” shall include:
    • The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
    • The one “off” term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.
Physical Requirements
