Part Time Estate Planning Attorney information

What does a part time estate planning attorney do?

A Part Time Estate Planning Attorney helps clients prepare for the management and distribution of their estate by drafting legal documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. They work on a flexible or reduced-hour schedule, assisting with strategies to protect assets, minimize taxes, and ensure clients' wishes are honored after their passing. Their role often involves advising clients, reviewing existing estate plans, and ensuring all documents comply with current laws, but on a schedule that accommodates both the attorney and the client's needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time estate planning attorney?

To thrive as a Part Time Estate Planning Attorney, you need a law degree, active bar membership, and expertise in wills, trusts, and probate law. Familiarity with legal research tools, drafting software, and estate planning management systems is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex legal concepts in simple terms make a candidate stand out. These abilities ensure accurate legal documentation, effective client relationships, and compliance with evolving regulations.

Job description

Equivity is seeking an experienced Probate & Estate Planning Paralegal to support attorneys with estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters.

This is an assignment-based opportunity designed for paralegals who value the flexibility of remote work and enjoy supporting a variety of law firms and matters across the country. As client needs evolve, assignments and workload may vary based on business demand. This role is a good fit for an experienced paralegal who values professional flexibility and is comfortable with a workload that can fluctuate rather than requiring a guaranteed number of weekly hours from the outset.

When actively supporting clients, responsiveness is important. Because client needs can arise on short notice, paralegals are expected to remain responsive to their active clients and Equivity managers within one hour during their stated availability.

If you're an experienced Probate & Estate Planning Paralegal who appreciates autonomy, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to work with multiple legal teams, this assignment-based model may be a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, and related documents
  • Prepare probate petitions, inventories, accountings, and court filings
  • Support probate and trust administration through completion
  • Communicate with clients and third parties to gather information and coordinate matters
  • Track deadlines, maintain case files, and review documents before attorney review
  • Work proactively with attorneys to ensure timely case progression
Compensation and Work Structure
  • W-2 employment
  • Compensation: $26 per hour
  • Assignment-based work with client assignments determined by demand, qualifications, and availability
  • Assignment volume and hours may vary
  • Client assignments may take time to develop and are not guaranteed immediately upon joining
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of probate and/or estate planning paralegal experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong knowledge of probate procedures and estate planning documents
  • Trust administration experience preferred
  • Experience with WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, Clio, or similar software is a plus
  • Available at least 20 hours/week during standard business hours (9:00 AM–6:00 PM)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Windows-based computer preferred
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid sick time and employee discounts
  • Annual performance bonus
  • 6-month performance review with potential pay increase
  • Expense reimbursement
  • Professional development and advancement opportunities
  • Supportive, long-term remote work environment
