Job description

Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse
Department: Med/Surg - Surgical Recovery Unit (2 East)
Location: Newark Wayne Community Hospital
Hours Per Week: Part Time (24 hours per week)
Schedule:Nights (6pm-6am), rotating weekends and holidays

*Note: Orientation is full time*

SUMMARY:


The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team.

OUR UNIT:

Join our 2 East Medical/Surgical Recovery Unit, a 9-bed unit specializing in the care and recovery of patients following surgical procedures. Primarily serving an adult population, we also occasionally care for pediatric ENT patients, allowing for a broad range of clinical experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patient Care & Service - Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members.

  • Medication Administration & Reporting - Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols.

  • Documentation - Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process.

  • Preparation - Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required.
  • Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills highly desired.
