What is part time engineering?

Part time engineering refers to engineering positions that require fewer working hours than a standard full-time job, typically offering flexible schedules. These roles may be ideal for students, parents, retirees, or those seeking additional work-life balance. Part-time engineers perform many of the same duties as full-time engineers, such as designing, analyzing, or maintaining systems, but on a reduced schedule. This arrangement can be found in various engineering fields, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time engineer?

To thrive as a Part Time Engineer, you need a solid background in engineering principles, problem-solving abilities, and a relevant degree or coursework in your specific discipline. Familiarity with industry-standard design software (such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks), data analysis tools, and sometimes certifications like EIT or FE are typically beneficial. Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills help you efficiently balance project demands and collaborate effectively in limited working hours. These competencies ensure you can contribute meaningful results and maintain productivity within a flexible or reduced schedule.

What are some common challenges faced by part time engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Part-time engineers often face challenges such as balancing multiple responsibilities, staying updated with project changes, and maintaining effective communication with full-time team members. To address these issues, it's important to establish clear expectations with supervisors, use collaborative tools for project tracking, and proactively schedule regular check-ins with the team. Adopting these practices can help part-time engineers stay engaged and ensure their contributions align with overall project goals.

Job description

Part-Time Radio Host / Multimedia Content Creator & Brand Influencer - KMON

*This position requires you to work in-office and on-site as needed. *

Be the Voice, Face, Writer, Content and Community Influencer of Your Community:

Are you a creative personality with a passion for radio, digital storytelling, video content creation, and building community relationships? At Townsquare Media Group, we're looking for a Radio Host / Multimedia Content Creator & Brand Influencer who can dominate the airwaves, create compelling local written content online, produce engaging video across platforms, and partner with local businesses as a trusted endorser and influencer.

This is a part-time, in-office role, working closely with a collaborative local team. We're searching for a true 360-degree multimedia talent with initiative-someone who thrives on radio, creates video content consistently, writes articles that demand attention, commands a room in person, and creates business opportunities with confidence. If you see yourself as a local influencer who can authentically connect, create content, endorse brands and generate revenue, this role was built for you.

Why Townsquare Media?

Townsquare is a media, entertainment, and digital marketing solutions company dedicated to serving small and mid-sized markets across the U.S. We own and operate 354 radio stations and more than 400 local websites across 74 markets-including trusted Great Falls stations.

We combine the power of local media with best-in-class digital solutions to help businesses grow-offering everything from broadcast and digital advertising to SEO, web design, and programmatic marketing.

What You'll Do:

As a Part-Time Radio Host / Digital Content Writer, you'll play a key role in shaping the sound and digital presence of KMON. You'll engage audiences across on-air, online, social, and in the community by:

  • Hosting live, engaging on-air shows Monday through Friday
  • Preparing daily show content that entertains, informs, and connects with the target audience
  • Creating and publishing a minimum of two original local articles per day for the station website and mobile app
  • Writing and scheduling engaging posts across social platforms including Facebook and others
  • Connecting with listeners through interviews, live appearances, remotes, and community events
  • Representing the station at promotions, live broadcasts, and special programming initiatives
  • Producing commercials and assisting with market-wide programming and content needs
  • Championing the station brand "on the streets" by building authentic community relationships
  • Collaborating with on-air, digital, production, and sales teams to support integrated content initiatives
  • Creating and publishing original video content regularly, including social-first short-form video (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) and longer-form segments that grow your personal on-screen brand
  • Prospecting and developing endorsement and influencer partnerships with local businesses, pitching yourself as a trusted community voice who can authentically promote products and services across on-air, video, and social platforms
  • Participating in person in high-visibility community events, client meetings, and business functions as a station ambassador who builds relationships that translate into revenue

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven, active track record creating original written digital content AND video content across social platforms (show us your pages)
  • Strong on-air presence AND on-camera comfort, with the ability to connect authentically with listeners and viewers across every platform
  • Knowledge of basic FCC rules and regulations
  • Solid understanding of current events and various formats
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfort multitasking, meeting deadlines, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to operate control boards, remote broadcast equipment, and related production tools
  • Willingness to quickly learn and become proficient in NexGen and Adobe Audition
  • Exceptional public speaking, presentation, and networking skills with the confidence to walk into a business, build a relationship, and close an endorsement deal
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Active video creator with a current, maintained presence on at least one short-form video platform (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts) and demonstrated comfort on camera
  • Entrepreneurial, sales-minded instincts: you think about your personal brand as a business, proactively seek out partnership and endorsement opportunities, and are motivated by revenue tied to your influence
  • Experience with or strong interest in influencer marketing, brand endorsements, or sponsored content creation, including the ability to pitch yourself compellingly to local advertisers
  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and vehicle (required)
