Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking a skilled and dedicated Part Time Electronics Technician (Utility) to join our team. In this critical role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality of all electronic systems across our City bus fleet. As an Electronics Technician, you'll conduct, maintain, test, and repair a wide range of electronic components both inside and outside our City buses. These components include, but are not limited to:

  • GFI Farebox System: Ensuring seamless fare collection operations.

  • Hanover/Twin Vision Destination Signs: Maintaining clear and accurate passenger information displays.

  • TripShot & Apollo Camera Systems: Guaranteeing the reliability of our real-time tracking and surveillance systems.

  • Connect Card Fare Collection Mechanisms: Keeping our modern fare collection methods running smoothly.

You'll leverage your expertise in electronic and mechanical principles to diagnose equipment functionality and swiftly restore systems to full operation. This role is essential for maintaining our fleet's efficiency and passenger satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • System Maintenance & Repair: Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including preventive maintenance (PMs), on all electronic systems, subassemblies, and control devices.

  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify the source of electronic and mechanical issues using a thorough understanding of theories and principles. Utilize various testing equipment, such as meters, oscilloscopes, and test benches, to accurately diagnose problems.

  • Component Replacement: Repair or replace defective parts and make necessary modifications as instructed.

  • Field Support: Execute timely field repairs for road failures to minimize disruptions to service.

  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with company and City personnel to address issues and concerns. Provide technical troubleshooting assistance to City maintenance teams.

  • Inventory & Logistics: Manage inventory control for electronic components and coordinate the return of broken units to specific OEMs for repair.

  • Training & Development: Assist in training other maintenance and technical-level employees, sharing your knowledge and expertise.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate company and City-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

  • Peak Performance: Ensure all assigned systems are operating at peak levels through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Adherence to Standards: Plan and perform work in accordance with writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, and a deep understanding of material properties and equipment operation.

Starting pay rate: $26.10/hour
